General description of organisation
With a balance sheet total of over CHF 1.5 billion, Alternative Bank Schweiz (ABS) is the largest bank in Switzerland with a business model based exclusively on social and ecological criteria. Our more than 32,000 customers and 5000 shareholders want to know what happens to their money. This is why ABS publishes information about all its loans with the permission of the borrowers. Currently ABS is financing more than 900 social and ecological projects and enterprises. The banks business policy includes explicitly foregoing the maximisation of profits.
Reason for membership with SSF
ABS has a forward-looking business model. It strives to encourage the development of the economy and of society and to pass on a responsible, discerning attitude towards banking and the financial system. So does SSF.
