General description of organisation

ECOFACT has addressed the risks and opportunities that environmental, social and governance issues present to the financial sector since 1998. We work primarily for banks, insurers, institutional investors, and international standard-setters. We help our clients to improve their understanding of credit, reputational, compliance and liability risks in the context of sustainability, ESG and responsible business conduct.

We assist our clients in designing processes and conducting due diligence. This includes providing solutions for issue monitoring, policy development, portfolio screening, individual risk assessment, and engagement services. Furthermore, ECOFACT offers its clients access to the Policy Outlook, a monitoring and implementation package that consists of an online tool, periodic briefings and calls, as well as a network of peers. The Policy Outlook covers regulatory change pertaining to sustainable finance and corporate responsibility. We also publish the ECOFACT Quarterly, a briefing for ESG risk experts which provides an overview of roughly 40 of the most relevant ESG developments per quarter.

Reason for membership with SSF

Over the next few years, expectations that the financial sector address sustainability and corporate responsibility issues will increase. For the simple reason that most economic actors seek insurance, financing or investment advice from financial institutions, policy-makers see the financial sector as a lever with which to address sustainability challenges.
SSF can play a key role in helping the Swiss financial sector to handle increasing regulation, evolving risks, and – equally importantly – emerging business models. SSF is also in a strong position to promote Switzerland as a leader in sustainable finance. For these reasons, ECOFACT is proud to be a member of SSF.
