ESG integration in asset management

General description of organisation

Sulzer Pension Fund (SVE) was founded in 1920 making it one of Switzerland’s oldest pension funds. Its objective is to ensure that the employees of its affiliated companies are protected from the financial consequences of old age, disability and death. It currently offers benefits which are above the minimum prescribed by the BVG legislation, in addition to flexible pension plans with different savings contributions. SVE currently manages assets of CHF 3.9 billion for more than 6’000 employees and nearly 5’800 pensioners. Thanks to its well diversified asset allocation and its direct property investments, it has delivered above-average interest payments on the retirement assets.

Reason for membership with SSF

As a long-term investor, it is important to the Sulzer Pension Fund that the assets of its insured persons are invested responsibly and sustainably. When making investment decisions it therefore considers economic, ethical, ecological and social criteria together with good corporate governance. It has strengthened its efforts to integrate sustainability criteria in its security portfolio and aims to decarbonize its sizeable real estate assets by implementing a plan to achieve net zero emissions by 2040.

By becoming a member of Swiss Sustainable Finance, the Sulzer Pension Fund looks for opportunities to exchange information and learn about recent developments in the sustainable investment industry.
