General description of organisation
Founded in 2013, Swiss Better Gold (SBG) is a non-profit industry association dedicated to improving the working and living conditions of artisanal, small-scale gold mining (ASGM) communities. SBG bridges the gap between the complex world of ASGM and the international market, establishing short, traceable and responsible value chains from mine to market. Our programme is the result of a public-private partnership with SECO, combining international cooperation and business development to enhance the integrity of the gold supply chain and tackle critical issues in the gold industry.
Reason for membership with SSF
At SBG, we are committed to advancing responsible mining practices and sustainable finance, making collaboration with SSF a natural step forward. We aim to contribute to discussions on evolving impact investment, sustainability, due diligence and accurate ESG claims. We also see the need for a dedicated platform for impact gold and look forward to exploring solutions with SSF and its members, including the Swiss Platform for Impact Investing. We are eager to continue supporting SSF in promoting impact gold as an investment asset, while sharing our field expertise with SSF members.
